jar 013

Now that it is spring and summer is just around the corner it is time to start planning family get togethers, showers, graduation parties, teas and wedding receptions.  I attended a wedding recently that they used mason jars rather than glasses.  I loved the look of the place settings with the mason jars.  I wanted to go with the mason jar theme but add a little polish and bling to them. I decided the way to do this was make some cute jar labels for the jars.  Lately I have been having fun designing crafts with metal lids for canning jars.  I bought a box and have spent a couple of days coming up with ideas about how to craft them. The idea of making removable jar labels with them sound like so much fun.

This is where it all started.  I recently bought an inexpensive box of metal lids.  They are such a blank canvas for so many crafting projects. They are also the perfect size for jar labels.

The next step was to spray paint the lids black.  I wanted to use a black/white theme for these creations.

After the paint dried I used a punch to put a small hole in the top of each lid.  This hole is to allow the lid to be attached to the ribbon.  If I had had twine I would have used it.  I then sewed the label onto the ribbon. It could also be glued to the ribbon.

I printed the labels out on round adhesive label sheets.  I then attached them to the painted lids.  For the serving jar I decided to add a little additional bling by gluing on pink sparkles.  I love pink and black together.  These jar labels were taking shape.

I used the same technique on the smaller individual labels.  I printed them out and attached them to the painted labels.

These are on a small table I built last fall.  I have used this useful table so many times.  I meant to sell it but now I use it so much that there is no way I could part with it.  Check it out here.

The labels can be downloaded here!

The border on the label came from Graphics Fairy which is one of my favorite places to find inspiration!
